Stock and Options Trading Community - Investing Bae
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Alaina Bradley, Co-Founder of Investing Bae, located in Knoxville, TN, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
My business is called Investing Bae. Initially, the brand was designed to help women learn to navigate the world of finance. We ended up with a super diverse community of individuals of different genders, ages, and backgrounds. Anyone who likes to learn about money will fit right in.
Tell us about yourself
Initially, finance didn't interest me. I had no fundamental knowledge of financial literacy. During grad school, I found myself in an abusive relationship. One where I was dependent on someone else financially. This was a massive lesson in the importance of having my finances together. Shortly after, I was introduced to the stock market after the pandemic.
Initially, I started an Instagram account to share my journey, almost like a journal. I began to grow a following, and people would ask me if I could teach them. It was all organic and developed a life of its own. I've been able to help so many families financially just by teaching them a skill. It's so fulfilling, and the community we've grown motivates and inspires me every single day.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I feel like a mentor to others. Their accomplishments are more important to me than my own. This year, we had our first 7-figure student. We've also had several students enter the 6-figure club. Watching someone come to you without knowledge of the stock market and take off is impressive. We all motivate one another, and seeing the community support and celebrate each other's milestones is cool.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
One of the hardest things about being a business owner is isolation. Planning, content creation, and the whole process are brutal but still rewarding. I've had many late nights of studying and reading. Trading is also really isolating in nature. It's worth it, though. When you're working towards a goal, your tribe has a way of finding and connecting with you.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- The best business advice I've ever gotten was just to be myself. I think being transparent and open with people has been a driving force in the growth of our community.
- Next, I'd say automate as much as you can. As your business grows, there are only so many daily hours. The more you can automate, the more efficient and productive you can be.
- Lastly, I'd say have fun. The moment you stop having fun. The best part of owning a business is the freedom, so make sure to take time for self-care and rest. You can be super passionate about your business, but if you're feeling burnt out, it can get overwhelming.
