What's your business, and who are your customers?

I run a business mentorship program for coaches and consultants who want to go from solo practitioners to sensational brands.

Tell us about yourself

I started as a customer to a coach because I was abandoning my dream because it was not working out. I was one of the first coaches formally trained in the US and helped to create the International Coaching Federation as a founding member and early board member. I am motivated to share what I learned that changed my life for the better with as many people as humanly possible.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Sustaining success for over twenty years as I raised a family---five books, an appearance on the Oprah Winfrey show, and a current TedxTalk with over 1.8 million views.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The ups and downs... the dry spells...

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Research if your idea can work FIRST (and if you can handle the lifestyle of a biz owner).
  2. Have money in reserve--it'll take 1-3 years to get this off the ground.
  3. Build a dream team of advisors and supporters who are, in the long run.
