Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Kim Beach, founder, and CEO of InsureWomen, located in Cincinnati. OH, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

InsureWomen's customers are two-fold: Our community is made up of female insurance agents and other stakeholders who support female insurance agents. The second customer is the female insurance buyer. InsureWomen is focused on creating a community of women agents who have a passion for serving female insurance buyers.

Tell us about yourself

I started in the business "later in life" because I wanted to build something at the end of my working career. After starting my insurance agency, I saw a very underserved population of women (specifically single/divorced/widowed) who needed to be better-taken care of. I launched InsureWomen to empower women in the insurance buying process to be confident, educated, and also treated with the attention and respect they deserve. This has also led to the creation of a community of agents who want to support this niche.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Taking a risk to serve a need that I discovered. I couldn't stop thinking about it and would never have been satisfied if I didn't at least "give it a shot"!

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Being lonely and not having someone to bounce ideas off of.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Ask for help. There are lots of great resources if you look around for them.
  2. Don't give up. Never, ever give up. If you are working hard, there is something good that will happen around the corner.
  3. Find your tribe. You need to surround yourself with a group of people who will encourage and empower you.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

We are launching our "Founding Member" campaign on 3/8/22 (International Women's Day) and hope to be at 200 members by the end of 2022.
