What's your business, and who are your customers?
I own a dance studio for children ages two years and up.
Tell us about yourself
I have been teaching dance since I was a teen. I started my dance studio when I was 25 years old and out of college. Dance is what I have always done and always loved. I feel that I am a natural-born teacher, and my life's path was always meant for it. Dance has so much to offer to ALL kids, and I want to share that with as many students as possible.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I am now in my 25th year of business, and this comes on the heels of covid lockdowns and all the challenges it presented. But even more than surviving two horrible years, the dancers that I impact day after day are my biggest accomplishment.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
When you are the owner, the buck stops with you. You take all of the risks and all of the responsibility for everything. I wasn't a business major, finance or accounting, but those are the most challenging and time-consuming parts of my job.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Get smart people in place to assist you with taxes and bookkeeping.
