Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Ingrid Herbert, owner of Wellnesstogo.ca, located in Toronto, ON, Canada.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I help professional women navigate intimate and platonic relationships and find their spiritual path.
Tell us about yourself
While doing esthetics and beauty shows, I stumbled into the health and wellness industry. After our discussions, a few clients expressed to me how much they loved my massages or how much better they were after the treatments I offered. The first step I took was to become a Certified Reflexologist. This began my journey into the healing and alternative medicine industry. What has motivated me after 20 years are the results of seeing my client's health and life improve. Over the last few years, my practice has shifted to coaching. I get so excited when clients share their breakthroughs and win with me, such as overcoming their fears, having a better relationship with family members, or just being able to communicate their needs clearly, and finding their voice to speak up and set boundaries.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Writing my book, Creating Sacred Space, A Journey to Self-Healing and living the Life of Your Dreams! Through the book, I'm able to connect and give support tools to my clients in other ways.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
I'm alone a lot, so it's challenging to self-motivate and make a variety of decisions without having another person's opinion to lean on or compare feedback on your ideas. Even though it's gotten easier over the years, the aloneness challenges my confidence in my abilities all the time.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Start with a plan that has your true goals outlined no matter how big, and be honest with your dream. Next, structure your day, starting with a morning routine that motivates and feeds you spiritually because you're going to need all of that energy to overcome your doubts and fears that will challenge you throughout the day. And finally, celebrate and list your wins. You can do it daily or weekly. Just be sure to make space to pat yourself on the back for your efforts, no matter how small.
