Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Kat Ogar, Founder of Infinite Health & Wellness, located in Norwell, MA, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
At Infinite Health & Wellness, we help women live inspired lives using natural therapies and mindfulness techniques. Whether they're experiencing overwhelm, anxiety, or acute or chronic health concerns, we create a tailor-made plan to help them heal and go on to live extraordinary lives.
Tell us about yourself
When I was in my twenties, I was fortunate to meet a holistic doctor. She helped me heal from chronic anxiety and panic disorder. The results were astounding. I told everyone I knew how this method of healing had helped me. A few years later, I started my journey and studied many holistic therapies like homeopathy, acupressure, Traditional Chinese Medicine, nutrition, and naturopathy. I'm passionate about helping others recover from mental and emotional conditions because I know how debilitating it can be to suffer from these conditions.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Becoming a Doctor of Natural Medicine is my biggest accomplishment as a business owner. It was on my list of things to do for over a decade before I took the leap. I was a bit intimidated by the thought of it because I knew it would be a big commitment. One day I heard a voice inside me say, "today's the day." I resisted initially, but before the day was over, I took a leap of faith and enrolled. I loved every moment of the program and learned many new tools to help others.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The day-to-day running of a business is one of the most challenging things about being a business owner. There are many moving parts: marketing, finances, operations, and sales. It's easy to get distracted. And someone is always trying to sell you something - either for your clients or to help the practice run more efficiently. It can be a bit overwhelming if you don't stay focused. I have a daily planner where I write down the top 3 things I want to accomplish and stick to them. That keeps me on track and feeling accomplished.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- There will always be someone trying to sell you something that looks great but may just be a distraction. Use what you have before investing in something you may not need.
- When you're doing something that works, stick with it. Keep using that method until it doesn't work anymore. Only then consider changing tactics.
- Try not to be too hard on yourself. Running and growing a business has ups and downs, but chances are you're doing the best you can at any given time. Remember that. Most people never even try. The fact that you started a business takes great courage and perseverance. Own that.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
If owning and running a business is your dream, don't give up. Keep taking consistent action. That is where success lives.
