Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in business solutions but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Rochelle Richardson, Founder of In Office - Virtual Assistance, located in Savaneta, Aruba.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

In Office Virtual Assistance is your outsourced Virtual Assistant working with small business owners and solo entrepreneurs, helping them with administrative pieces of their business like social media content creation, social media scheduling, and email management.

Tell us about yourself

I set up In Office as an administrative professional with the view of serving clients locally and regionally, giving them the option to outsource their admin needs. I have over 3 years of experience in different administrative roles in education, banking, and the private sector. It is my mission to bring organization, intelligence, and creativity to you, leaving you with the peace of mind you need to focus on running your business!

On a personal note, I consider myself to be a true international citizen of Earth, with a passion for expressing myself through written form, dance, and music. I also love to travel. I'm also a proud unconventional, sarcasm-savvy, ageless introvert with a lot on her mind studying the Korean Martial Art, Tang Soo Do. I've lived in Canada, The Netherlands, and St. Maarten, but Aruba is my home. I also love tea!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

To me, my biggest accomplishment so far was to actually go ahead and start my business, all fear, self-doubt, and insecurities aside. It takes a lot to quiet those voices and take that leap into becoming an entrepreneur.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

For me, one of the hardest things is balance. Sometimes I struggle with balancing work time with family time since my office is at home. It is a work in progress!

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Start, no matter where you are or what, despite what you think you do and do not, have figured out.
  2. Give it a chance, don't give up too quickly. Just because it's not happening at your desired pace doesn't mean it's not happening at all.
  3. Get positive and encouraging people in your corner - a special spotlight on my father, Rev. Sydney Michael Jacob, who was and will always be the number one in my corner.
