Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in leadership development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Andrea Schwarz, Founder of IMUA OLA, located in Miami, FL, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
My business is a Leadership & Executive Coaching company helping today's Leaders Realize and Achieve their Dreams. My customers are the leaders with big dreams that are not shying away from doing the hard things in their lives. They are moving over and around obstacles and limiting beliefs to go after their dreams.
Tell us about yourself
My name is Andrea, and I worked for big corporations like Adidas, Reebok, and Novartis in leadership roles across IT, Operations, and Global Business Services, with a primary focus on people. Mentoring and coaching were part of my day-to-day job, and seeing my teams develop and grow was my biggest joy. Starting my own business was the natural next step combining my passion for people and my purpose to make dreams come true in one business called IMUA OLA - Life moving forward.
The 3rd element in my life is water. To make my own dream come true, I now live by the water and spend my mornings on the paddle board or in an outrigger canoe. The lessons of leadership on the water inspire and deepen my coaching sessions.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
It is the spark in a person's eyes when a dream has come full circle through dreaming, planning, and executing it. That spark in a coachee's eyes and mine.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Believing in yourself even if there is no external validation.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Believe in yourself.
- Believe in your dream and let no one judge the dream. Plan the dream in all detail and let many people criticize your plan to make it better and better. Then execute with discipline and empathy.
- People come first. Be nice and kind, and treat them the way they want to be treated.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
One way to make big and hard things happen is to break them into mini habits. Add a small habit to your life every so often, and keep doing it. Automatically the bad habits will be eliminated, and big things will happen. One mini habit at a time.
