Improov is a laboratory consulting company, and we service laboratories performing clinical testing.

Tell us about yourself

I am a US Navy-trained clinical laboratory scientist with over 20 years of experience in hospital, reference, and academic laboratory settings. In a career that spans all aspects of laboratory medicine, from lab assistant to lab director, I have always gravitated toward process improvement and excellence. I am a natural leader, drawing from my hands-on experience to build collaborative relationships between front-line staff, management, and other healthcare teams.

I am a sought-after laboratory leader credited with helping laboratories improve their daily operations, inspection results, and regulatory compliance, driving hospital-wide initiatives to achieve these results and position the laboratory as a key player in the healthcare value chain.

I leverage my technical expertise, management skills, years of experience, and leadership qualities to foster a team culture that promotes the highest standards. Laboratory quality is of paramount importance, and I am passionate about not just maintaining laboratory quality but constantly seeking ways to improve it. This was the inspiration behind creating Improov.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

The biggest accomplishment has been to be able to launch the consulting company in the midst of the pandemic and while being a mother of 2 :-)

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

One of the hardest things is to adjust to change and continuously think of ways to seek additional business. I think for new businesses, the first few years are hard while one gets the word out and your clients know about you and the quality of the work you offer.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

For those who are starting businesses based on a passion or expertise, I would recommend making sure one becomes well versed in business operations and marketing strategies.
