Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Emily & Tamara, owners of Idiot Box Art, located in West Hollywood, CA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

We are a women-owned and ran art business! We work exclusively with wood, paint, and a heavy gloss resin. We love to make fun, bright cartoon/ pop art pieces for people's homes. Our collectors grew up on cereal and cartoons, and they love to collect nostalgic pieces.

Tell us about yourself

Tamara started as a traditional painter on canvas. Emily came from a background of make-up school where she learned how to paint small details. We are motivated by everyone around us; their encouragement keeps us going.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Our biggest accomplishment to date has to be creating personal art pieces for Justin Bieber.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Finding a work-life balance. We tend to over-work.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Start today, don't quit, pay no attention to doubters.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

As a small business, we appreciate all the support we can get.
