Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal and business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Csaba Toth, Founder of ICQ Global, located in Brighton, East Sussex, UK.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

ICQ Global is a multi-award-winning leading expert in measuring, visualising, and optimising psychological safety, motivational drivers, and cognitive diversity, the 3 invisible forces that make or break a team. We partner with companies who are committed to future-proofing their businesses by using up-to-date solutions driven by data, rooted in science, and proven by results.

Tell us about yourself

It is tough to talk about something we are unaware of and even harder to fix something if we don't know how it works. Our mindset is one of those things, so learning about the blueprint of why people think and behave so differently is crucial. I have ruined important personal and business relationships because I thought relying on common sense, good intentions, and treating people how I want to be treated would be enough. That is not the case, and the lack of that knowledge causes way too much damage. That is my drive - to share those solutions so more people can get along with themselves and others.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Working with national governments, the European Parliament, and Fortune 500 companies is fantastic, although supporting universities to prepare the future generation of leaders and entrepreneurs is even more fulfilling.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Most employees leave their companies because they feel they can do a better job and deserve more. Later on, they realise they created another job, not a scalable business, and they have even less freedom and more pressure. Developing an entrepreneurial mindset is challenging and rewarding. The ability to take full responsibility, risk time and money, create a vision, and execute it will provide you with the most valuable transferable skills in life. It can be a lonely journey and maybe a longer one than expected.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Aim for creating synergy, a win-win situation with strategic partners.
  2. Compete on value, not price.
  3. Outmatch people...always give more than expected and get rid of the takers as soon as possible.
