Vintage Brewed Fragrances - I Brew Perfume

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal care but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Oie White, founder of I Brew Perfume, located in Kansas, MO, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I brew perfume as part of my family's old vintage fragrance company. We've been creating family memories for gentrification by introducing odors from the past to the future gentrification. Bring a memory from your youth to share with your friends and relatives.

Tell us about yourself

Unlike most, I was born into my family business, taught by my grandmother, mother, and older sister the ins and outs of fragrance making. I can honestly say I get paid to make people happy. The look on someone's face as they take a joyful trip back down memory lane.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Despite the doctor telling my mom I wouldn't make it 6 yrs old and that the fact my mother and my family never gave up on it kept me going. With the Lord's blessing, I hope to open my own center to teach people like me to open their own businesses.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Being a disabled business owner is not easy; having both dyslexic and learning disabled makes it very hard for me to run my business. Even with my limited skills and having difficulty with spelling and writing, with the help of technology, what takes 10 to now only takes three days.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

First and foremost, never be scared to seek assistance. Nobody can accomplish it all on their own. Never allow your disability to prevent you from realizing your passion for owning a business. There is no such thing as easy money, and just because you build it does not guarantee that people will come; you must work to thrive.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

I am old school, so you wanted to find me on social media. Everything I do is by word of mouth. The best way to contact me is by my website. I am always open to answering any question about my family business. I am always available for new connections.
