Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in hypnotherapy and life coaching, but not sure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Stacia Aashna of Chicago, IL
What's your business and who are your customers?
I am a clinical hypnotherapist and life coach. I work with people to create a space of healing for them to achieve lasting and empowering change.
Ultimately, the essence of the work I’m doing is to help my clients recalibrate and find a place of wholeness within themselves, so all parts of their lives become more fulfilling.
Tell us about yourself
I found this from after my own healing transformation. I suffered from clinical depression and anxiety that left me distressed and in despair, crushing any sort of self-esteem I had been clinging on to. But as I pulled myself out and pieced myself together, I fell in love with the healing process and knew my purpose was to help others do the same.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Creating lasting change for my clients. Whether it is assisting a person to quit smoking with ease, or heal and free their inner child, these things change people's lives in very positive ways and that brings me great joy
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Balance and keeping organized takes consistent work. I intentionally plan self-care into my day, so that I stay balanced for myself and my clients. In addition, I have to work very hard to keep myself organized because as an entrepreneur, I have many different projects going at once.
What are the top 3 tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
1. The balance between staying grounded & following your heart is key. Talk to others who've successfully developed a thriving business for advice on what to do and what not to do.
2. Network! Look for opportunities to connect with others who can assist and support you.
3. Take care of your mental and emotional health in the process - know that starting a business is a roller coaster ride.
If there was one thing you could do repeatedly to help grow your business, what would it be?
Events for me are key. I shine when I am in front of people. One of my greatest skills is my ability to develop genuine connections, which has been tricky during covid! I am looking forward to more events in the near future.
What are some of the things you put in place to maintain a healthy work/life balance?
1. Meditation - every AM to keep me focused and healthy.
2. Exercise - keeps my endorphins flowing and generally healthy and feeling food.
3. Giving myself permission to feel my feelings - some days are tough and I try to not be too hard on myself when I am not feeling my best.
4. Keeping friends and family around who keep me in check - they can easily see when I am out of balance and help to keep me mindful of this.
Who are some of your favorite entrepreneurs and why?
I deeply admire others in the wellness field, such as The Holistic Psychologist on IG.
Gary Vaynerchuk has been a long time influence, and I love that he's also a meditator.
As for books, The Surrender Experiment by Michael Singer is a fantastic read for those looking to let go and follow their heart. Also: It's Not Your Money by Tosha Silver, which is also about letting go and living from a mindset of abundance.
