Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and fitness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Adam Priest of Hungry4Fitness, located in Leicestershire, UK.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Hungry4Fitness is an online business that aims to provide people with all the tools and knowledge to improve their health and fitness.

Tell us about yourself

My passion for all things health and fitness was the driving motivational impetus behind the development of Hungry4Fitness. Having spent many years as a health professional, I felt compelled to share information that could make a dramatic difference in people's life. The Hungry4Fitness website is an extension and continuation of my lifelong love of fitness, health, and combat sports. Hungry4fitness began as an initiative to share contemporary exercise and training knowledge. Ultimately, what motivates me is the thought of helping people make positive lifestyle changes.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

The biggest accomplishment achieved as a business owner is producing the Hungry4Fitness Circuit Training book series and Weight Loss Programme. In addition, the publication of over 340 articles and a growing subscription base are also noteworthy accomplishments. Certainly, when one considers that Hungry4Fitness started life as a scribble on a scrap piece of paper.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

By far, the hardest thing that comes with being a business builder is the constant requirement to juggle the many roles, responsibilities, and tasks that must be performed on a weekly basis. The person that aspires to build a business must be prepared to become a veritable Jack of all trades.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Start to steel yourself in preparedness for the many grueling hours of toil that must be invested in building a business. Be prepared to have to work for many hours a day without positive feedback, thanks, recognition, or financial reward.
  2. Develop a work strategy/system that promotes consistent production. But (Tip #2.1:) know how to prioritise tasks and how to distinguish between useful production and busy procrastination. I still do not know the difference.
  3. Be prepared to fail - a lot.
