What's your business, and who are your customers?
Human Error Solutions is a US-based boutique consulting firm dedicated to helping organizations maximize productivity, increase human reliability, and achieve organizational goals by optimizing the utilization of existing resources.
Tell us about yourself
I am an Industrial-Organizational Psychologist with more than 20 years of experience specializing in Engineering Psychology and Human Reliability, disciplines that study the interaction between human behavior and productivity. I have held positions leading Training and Human Reliability programs in the Pharmaceutical and Medical Device Manufacturing Industry.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
To create a Human Error Reduction Model to investigate human performance deviations and issues that have been implemented worldwide. Human error situations must be addressed for safety, quality, and business health. We created a methodology to make it easier and more effective. We have been 100% successful in reducing human error when our program gets implemented.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Planning and creativity. Business owners need to have several plans: short term, long term, and today term. Also, social media today is paramount to making your business stands out, and creativity is the key to achieving the positioning your business needs.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Be patient and prepare for a slow start. Make financial backup plans, so you won't feel tempted to give up when things get tough.
- Get involved in organizations and groups with similar interests and practices. There is a lot to learn from peers.
- Write! Write! Write! Get the information out there. Blogs and articles about the problems that you "fix." For lack of a better way to put it, publish the problem and sell the solution. Sell your value.
