Heal Your Gut Once and for All - Hub Healthy
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Tava Sternberg, owner of Hub Healthy, located in Boston, MA, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I'm the owner and functional dietitian at Hub Healthy. I use functional nutrition to help women find answers to their digestive issues so they can feel great. See ya later, bloat, gas, and constantly thinking about how your stomach will react to your next meal!
What we eat drives how our entire body functions, but it’s hard to know what to eat when nothing seems to make you feel good. Trying to experiment with elimination diets on your own can feel overwhelming, and diet is only a piece of the puzzle, so you probably won’t end up seeing the results you’re looking for on your own. Plus, you might be just as confused about what your body actually needs to thrive.
The women I work with are sick of not feeling their best! Sometimes we prioritize our work, partners, family, dog, and so on, and we forget that we can actually prioritize our own health. Don’t be at the bottom of your own priority list - I'm here to help!
Tell us about yourself
I'm passionate about helping my clients. I'm also a wife and mom to a 2-year-old (human) and two 3-year-old mini dachshunds. As someone who has lost both of my parents to cancer, I am intimately aware of the importance of a healthy lifestyle. Genes are one important part of our health, but it’s not the only part. Our lifestyle habits – your sleep, your ability to manage stress, and regular joyful movement – all play a powerful role, and they can actually influence your genes, which motivates me to do what I do daily.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is figuring it all out (and still figuring it out) even when it feels hard! Jumping into private practice was exciting for me because of the clients I got to serve, but I quickly realized there is a lot more to owning a business than just seeing my clients.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Boundaries. When you are invested in your business and love what you do, sometimes you feel like you have to work 24/7. Creating work boundaries is so important but can be really hard, especially in the beginning.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Hire a coach or find a mentor who has done what you want to do - you will get there faster and make fewer mistakes!
- Hire a team before you feel ready - growth can be scary, but hiring helps you grow in all the best ways!
- Don't be afraid to step out of the box and show your personality. People buy from people - connection and community are key players in business!
