Interested in starting your own freelance business or side hustle as a yoga teacher? Then read up on our interview with Rosie Araujo, the founder of Mint Body Studio. Rosie is yoga instructor who teaches private classes and group classes based in Miami.

Tell us all about your business...

I teach people how to connect! More professionally put, I am a yoga instructor :) I aspire to inspire others to get to know themselves on a deeper level in order to evolve both in their internal and external success, and also to allow healing into their lives.

When we heal ourselves, we heal the world. When we heal, we grow. I create this space for others through private yoga, group community classes, and the use of aromatherapy for emotional support.

I work with high end professionals, entrepreneurs, celebrities, and the average person next door. People tend to show up in my life when they are ready for change; I am there to receive them. Wether it be through a private session or the weekly community classes by donation that I teach, I am here to help others through their discovery of self. If our paths cross, I hope to inspire you!

What's your background and motivation to get into the solopreneur life?

I was attracted more to high intensity workouts, such as CrossFit, for most of my life. I absolutely disliked Yoga. After a very difficult breakup, my life coach at the time suggested I take a yoga teacher training. I laughed and asked if she was serious, as I had NEVER taken a Yoga class prior to that conversation. I had an entire weekend to decide since the training was about to begin and I said yes.

It was the most intuitive "yes" I had ever felt, and I was also ready for something different in my life. The first day of the yoga teacher training was my very first yoga class ever. I knew nothing. Two weeks into the training I came to the realization that I had discovered my purpose; my path. I fell in love with the practice, and most importantly with myself.

Four years later I get to make an impact in other people's lives for a living. I always say in my classes, every expert was once a beginner. When the will for change becomes strong enough, the practice shows up. Everyone has their story of how they first got into yoga, this is mine. This practice has transformed every aspect of my life for the better, that alone motivates me everyday to keep sharing it with everyone I meet in hopes that it gives them the courage to be curious. Through others I flow, together we grow.

As a business owner, what does success ultimately mean to you?

Success for me means connection to self. It is key in everything you desire to manifest in your life.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Doing everything yourself! When you first start any business, you are wearing many hats. Playing many parts. Eventually help, support, and community comes.

Your vibe attracts your tribe! If there's one thing I have learned is that you need people to help you and cheer you on.

What are the top 3 tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run or grow a business today?

  • Take risks! You absolutely have to put yourself out there. Do not wait to have it perfect, simply begin. The rest will come and you learn so much as you go.
  • Network! The more people you know that can help you in creating what you want, the better. It is very difficult to do it alone. Community is everything.
  • Find a Mentor! Wether it be self development courses or a life coach, someone that you look up to and that has more experience than you do is a game changer. A little guidance can take you a long way and also help your mindset throughout the process.

If there was one thing you could do repeatedly to help grow your business, what would it be?

Marketing! It has always been the hardest thing to keep consistent.

What are some of the things you put in place to maintain a healthy work/life balance and to keep it all together?

Take time off! I cannot stress this enough. People think that if they're not doing they're not growing. On the contrary, you need to fill your own cup up to be able to create, manifest, and give.

I have a daily meditation practice that grounds me and brings so much clarity. Finding stillness daily is extremely important to me. I pay attention to how I talk to myself and also how I nourish my body. These things help me stay balanced as I work towards my goals.

Who are some of your favorite entrepreneurs and best business resources/books??

As far as inspiration, I look up to Yung Pueblo. His writings really inspire me daily. When it comes to business, I admire Gabriel Burnstein, she is a badass!

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

You don't manifest what you want, you manifest who you are.
