Tell us about yourself
As a former competitive athlete, I've always been driven by a competitive spirit and a desire to succeed. After graduating from Marquette University, I took that drive into the startup world and hadn't looked back since. I've always been drawn to the non-traditional route and proving people wrong through resilience and passion.
What first got me started working on hoo.be was my fascination with the impact that large celebrities and creators have on brands and businesses. I saw a shift taking place where these creators were becoming more powerful than traditional media companies, and I wanted to be a part of it. My goal was to work with the biggest names in the world and provide value to them in a way that many people thought was impossible.
Being able to build alongside and provide unconditional value to the most visible names in the world, which will ultimately impact our culture and future generations, is what motivates me to do what I do every day. The challenge of working with the biggest names in the creator space, and the impact that they have, is what drives me to push forward and build something truly special with hoo.be.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is the talented and dedicated team that I've been able to assemble at hoo.be. Building a successful business requires a strong team, and I am proud to have been able to attract top talent to our company.
Bringing together a team of individuals who share my vision for hoo.be and are committed to helping us achieve it has been a key factor in our success. Together, we have been able to take the company from an idea to a thriving business. This is a great accomplishment, and I am proud of the team that we have built, which has been instrumental in creating a strong company culture and brand. It's often said that the brand of an early-stage company is the personality and values of the earliest team members, and I couldn't be prouder of the brand we have built at hoo.be.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Being a business owner is a challenging and rewarding journey. One of the hardest things about it is the constant mental and emotional investment required. There is no off switch, and even when you're away from the office or your computer, your mind is always turning with business ideas, thoughts, and worries. It's a constant balancing act of trying to achieve the best for your business while also being empathetic to the individual needs and goals of your team members.
The other big challenge is the unpredictability of running a business, dealing with the uncertainty and constant changes that come with it. It's a roller coaster of highs and lows, and it can be hard to stay motivated and focused when things don't go as planned. But it's also the most fulfilling experience when you overcome those challenges and see your vision come to fruition; it's truly worth all the hardships along the way.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
The network is your net worth. Building a strong network of contacts is essential for any business. It's not just about who you know but about who knows and believes in you. When people in your network trust and believe in your ability to make things happen, they are more likely to support you and your business. Remember, it's important to deliver on the small things to gain their trust, so when it comes time to deliver on the big things, they'll be more likely to stand behind you.
