Tell us about yourself
I've always had a desire to open my own business, to challenge myself to create something from the ground up. My grandmother came from Slovenia and I grew up enjoying her strudel, in fact, it was always a staple dessert at family get-togethers. The strudel was something that represented connection for me, bringing family and friends together. I wanted to create a place with an atmosphere built upon that same feeling of "connection". I'm motivated each day by being able to work with my great staff and seeing all of our guests that come in and enjoy what Honeybrew Strudel Bar has to offer.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is seeing all of our wonderful guests enjoying Honeybrew Strudel Bar. It's an amazing feeling to see people enjoying something that you've worked so hard on to achieve.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
One of the hardest things that come with being a business owner is managing work-life balance. You are going to be busy when you open a business, that is without a doubt. You need to find those times to enjoy life away from work. Your business and your staff are going to need you to be at your best and you can only do that if you take care of your own mental health.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
1. Don't give up! It's not easy opening up a business and you're going to run into issues, but if you believe in your business plan and what you are trying to create, then keep going.
2. Don't be afraid to ask for help! There are so many people out there that have a wealth of knowledge in opening and running businesses. You don't have to know everything, use the resources that are available to you to make your business a success.
3. Have fun doing it! It's going to be stressful, it's going to have its difficulties, but the payoff when you see your idea come to life is so rewarding, remember to enjoy it.
