Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in holistic wellness, but not sure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Ola Abugharbiyeh, the founder of Jade Counselling and Wellness,  holistic wellness practitioner in Canada.

Tell us all about your business...

At Jade Counselling and Wellness, we focus on holistic wellness, beyond the limitations of regular psychotherapy work. Our approach is more biopsychosocial.

Since our inception, we have been privileged to collaborate with amazing individuals, couples, and families (ages 16+) who put their trust in us and we put our confidence in their resourcefulness towards healing and flourishing. We walk alongside our clients providing the compass guided by their commitment and ongoing engagement.

For us, psychotherapy is a passion that is led by science and art. We practice evidence-based modalities that have the best likelihood of helping our clients navigate their journey towards sustained healing and growth.

What's your background and motivation to grow as a business owner?

I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors. I specialize in trauma and relationships therapy. I hold a Masters degree in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University in New Brunswick. I also hold two other Masters degrees in Human Rights and Development Studies, Psychology and Education.

Prior to committing to a full-time private clinical practice, I worked in the fields of education, management and clinical supervision for over 20 years. My previous experiences as a senior manager in various agencies locally and internationally have provided me with a platform to build a high level of competency with various issues with clients and manage and supervise counsellors and paraprofessionals in the fields of individual, couples and family counselling.

Starting Jade Counselling as a private practice has been motivated by this life purpose to hold hope for my clients and accompany them on their journey towards clarity and growth.

As an entrepreneur, what does success ultimately mean to you?

My accomplishment is ongoing as I witness my clients' transformation, reconciliation and growth. This really warms my heart on a daily basis.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being an entrepreneur?

Management of a business as an entrepreneur can never be divorced from risk taking and a certain level of unpredictability especially during weird times such as a pandemic. However, creating a workplace where you are your own boss is worth the challenge. Personally, I do enjoy challenges as I work towards transforming them into opportunities.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run or grow a small business today?

Plan to succeed. Stay positive and believe in yourself and others. You are here for a reason, go out and find your calling. There is nothing more fulfilling than accomplishing goals and attending to your life purpose.
