Gain a Professional Edge - Holistic Nutrition Hub
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal and business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Lynne Faires, CEO of Holistic Nutrition Hub, located in Nyon, Switzerland.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I run a coaching business where I help nutritionists build their businesses from concept to social media. When we work with Holistic practitioners, we help them design, strategize, and build their businesses. I have a team who helps create branding & websites as well. The Holistic Nutrition Hub is an online Nutrition Consulting platform where we house nutrition assessments, forms, and business tools.
Tell us about yourself
My background is in administration and management. However, when I had my own health issues, I decided to dive more into nutrition and work with herbs to help reverse these concerns. I enjoyed what I was learning so much that I took a nutrition program and became a Registered Holistic Nutrition through the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition. After graduating, I taught at the school in the areas of eco-nutrition, business, and holistic cooking. I continue to teach online through the Health Coach Collaborative and the Holistic Nutrition Hub. I moved to Switzerland 4 years ago and now am reaching out to the francophone market as well. I didn't know that my business would move from helping individual nutrition clients to more business-related coaching; however, helping inspire other coaches to build a life and business they love keeps me going. It allows me to balance family life, wellness, and creativity all in one. My clients keep me going, and seeing someone succeed is the best part of my job!
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I have kept my business running for over five years which is not the norm in our industry. I am very proud of how far I have come and how much my career has helped me grow as an individual and as a coach.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Believing in myself. It is hard to be an entrepreneur, and you have to really trust that you know what you are doing.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Get started! So many folks wait to start their business because of fear or uncertainty. It takes time to get all the pieces in order and time to build up a following. The sooner you start, the better!
- Don't spend the earth on all the bells and whistles - a business can be started for less than you think! There are a few key pieces that you need in places such as the "foundations" (banking, insurance, etc.), social media, and a website - that's it!
- Network and share - don't be afraid to share your knowledge without compensation. This will help you build the "know, like, trust" factor with your clients. Hiding behind the information doesn't help anyone - it just slows the process down in terms of helping clients and helping grow your business.
