Tell us about yourself
My name is Taliah S. Muhammad, and the founder of HNPA as well as the Dean of the Islamic Medicine Program at the Ibn Al Qayyim School of Islamic Medicine at HNPA. I am the owner of Divine Ayat, LLC., a Registered Islamic Medicine Practitioner, and a Registered Muslim Herbalist. I hold a bachelor's Degree in Arts and have studied at The Maryland University of Integrative Health, where I majored in Therapeutic Herbalism with a concentration in Product Design. My handmade wellness products can be found in select Whole Foods Market stores in Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Ohio.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Scaling my product from one Whole Foods Market to over 42 in less than three months.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
The hardest thing that comes with being a business owner is resisting the urge to "do it all."
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
The top 3 tips I'd give someone who is looking to start, run, and grow a business today would be:
- Don't give up. It takes years to grow a successful business. Just keep at it.
- Don't get discouraged. Sometimes those closest to you will be last to support you. Don't worry about it. If your product/service solves a problem- look for the people you can help, not for the ones you want to help you.
- Drive with excellence. Do everything in a spirit of excellence. Don't release a website, product, or service offering until it's close to perfect.
