Helping Leaders of Nonprofits to Grow and Expand - HillChase
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Derrick Hill, Managing Partner of HillChase, located in Atlanta, GA, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I have always had a passion for helping people expand and grow their Nonprofit Organizations, allowing them to have a sizeable impact in their respective communities. I came up with the idea of my business because I saw far too many leaders of Nonprofits needing help raising money to support their nonprofits, struggling with forming a productive Board of Directors, finding it difficult to locate grants, increasing the number of corporate partners, and having challenges growing the organization. I knew I could quickly help leaders succeed in those areas. Having more than 20 years of experience in the Nonprofit sector, I was confident that I could support leaders in growing their Nonprofits, which drove me to develop the business.
Tell us about yourself
Being a professional fueled by road-mapping others towards success, nothing makes me happier than translating nonprofit objectives into tangible realities and doing so while ensuring everyone involved has positive, constructive experiences along the way. I have a genuine passion for global impact and demonstrate it by delivering leaders of nonprofits actionable, innovative, and tailored support that solidifies growth-driven futures. Because in the end, every nonprofit organization has what it takes to instill lasting impacts on society today and future generations.
One vision board and endless perseverance later, I have since intertwined my motivating energy with expertise across the marketing, board development, leadership, and fundraising sectors to position nonprofits toward achieving long-term excellence – supporting Nonprofits of all sizes. Some of the more notable champions include (but are not limited to) The Steve & Marjorie Harvey Foundation, the YMCA, Boys and Girls Club of America, and numerous others in-between ranging from zero staff up to 300. In addition, we've developed a self-guided course that enables nonprofit leaders to grow their organizations and improve program development in as little as three months.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Did you know that the #1 reason why many Nonprofits collapse within their first five startup years? Many leaders of Nonprofits, whether they're just starting or have been in business for a few years, end up spending their accounts negatively when trying to assemble a team to manage their organization or prematurely hire a grant writer they can't afford. There's a simpler way to get organized and funded without the overwhelmed! We've helped hundreds of large and small nonprofits raise millions in funding for their organizations but have also helped them scale to nationwide and global recognition. We invite leaders of nonprofits to visit our website and take the complimentary Nonprofit assessment at www.hillchase.com.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
One of the hardest things that come with being a business owner is managing growth, we are doing great, and it's our goal to maintain that status.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Ensure that it's an area that you are passionate about,
- Become the thought leader expert and learn everything that you can about your business model,
- Engage people, do not try to do everything alone; you will need support.
