Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in food and beverage but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Chrystal Chau, Owner of High-Vibe Health, located in Calgary, AL, CA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

High-Vibe Health is a small organic bone broth company local to Calgary, Alberta. We have a cute, tiny little broth shop in Midnapore where we serve up delicious brothy treats - current customer fav is our Chocobroth (chocolate + bone broth) Frappuccino - don’t worry, you can’t taste the broth! High-vibe supports small, local businesses in our mission to nourish & inspire conscious eating & being.

Tell us about yourself

I started High-Vibe because I wanted to drink & feed our family bone broth every day… and couldn’t find an organic brand on the market, so voila! Made one! It was the right move - as a small family, we easily consume a liter of broth a day without even trying!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

This business is personal to me. My favorite thing to do is to nourish people - in every respect, so being able to do that while raising & nourishing my own family is everything. We opened our shop in 2018, and 4 years later, we have two healthy, deeply nourished & cared-for beautiful children and a profitable and inspiring business. I think this would have to be my greatest accomplishment as a business owner.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Shit goes wrong. A lot of shit goes wrong! We’ve had to learn to make moves, pivot, be creative, think outside of the box, stay true to ourselves and our values, and remember that a good attitude is everything… because shit does go wrong… and when we can turn that wrong into a right, that’s when we win.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Worry about yourself. Keep your eyes on yourself and your aspirations. There might be many other people doing what you’re doing, but there’s only one YOU doing it.
  2. Use your intuition. I literally created high-vibe with zero business schooling, training, information, podcasts, or others. These things are tools and can help, but intuition has been lost in a big way, it’s time to bring back awareness and trust in self.
  3. Be kind. Be honest, authentic, and practice gratitude. In every action, situation, exchange, thought, and intention. Your business is an energetic extension of yourself.
