High-performance coaching with Liane Wansbrough
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey by launching a coaching business, but not sure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Liane Wansbrough of Elite High Performance, based in Toronto, Canada.
What's your business and who are your customers?
I'm a high performance coach. I help self-starting millennial women who feel stuck level up their mindset so they can move forward and have the career, relationships and health they want.
Tell us about yourself
I experienced my own journey through mindset strategy so I know firsthand how much women (really all of us!) short-change themselves and their happiness. I hit a ceiling that I couldn’t seem to get beyond and felt stuck and unfulfilled.
Coming out the other side was transformational for me because it gave me confidence to go after what I really wanted. I went from stagnating and playing small to being able to have a bigger impact in my life both personally and professionally.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Getting over imposter syndrome, learning to be in flow with clients (going off script, being more present, less about me talking and more about me listening), the mindset aspect of it.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Understanding that it isn't just about working with clients it's also about marketing and that serves to bring clients in the door. So many times practitioners (especially coaches, nutritionists etc) love helping people and want to focus on that. We don't learn how to market and it can be a rude awakening that we have to become experts in that.
What are some tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Understand imposter syndrome and perfectionism as both of those things show up in your life and hold you back or cause you to struggle as you grow a business (and possibly quit). Embrace marketing as a foundational piece of running a business.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
I believe that mindset is fundamental to our success when starting and growing a business. Many people starting out with a new business fail to achieve their goals because they get sidelined by negative, self-sabotaging emotional states.
This is where the mindset strategy and emotional intelligence is so important because it helps us overcome difficult emotions such as self-doubt and the setbacks that are part of the path to success.
