What's your business, and who are your customers?

Herbal Roots is a family-owned herbal supplements business. We pride ourselves on providing the highest quality supplements on the market. We never have binders, fillers, GMOs, additives, or other unnecessary things in our supplements. Think of it like a farm-to-table concept.

We love our customers! The Herbal Roots family consists of people from all over the world who are looking for nature-provided alternatives to pharmaceutical medicine to help them treat and prevent particular ailments.

Tell us about yourself

We are Jennifer, Heather, and Emily - Sisters and co-founders of Herbal Roots. We have always shared a passion for using herbal supplements and home remedies for ailments from headaches, aches, and pains to illnesses. We found a problem in the supplements world in that we had a hard time finding supplements that are 100% pure, that used the whole herb and didn’t add unnecessary ingredients like fillers, sugar, additives, and binders.

In 2017 we took it upon ourselves to take our passion for herbal remedies and create a product line of the purest supplements possible. Fueled by the need for pure, whole supplements, we took a giant leap, and Herbal Roots was born. We are continually motivated to release new supplements by the countless success stories we receive on how our supplements have positively changed a person's life. These testimonials are why we do what we do!

We are focused on sustainable wellness practices and revitalizing a relationship with the plant world. Producing the highest quality products is our number 1 priority! We are excited to share our passion and provide drug-free natural alternatives to promote overall health.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Honestly, our biggest accomplishment is actually doing what we set out to do. We have high standards for our supplement formulas and testing. We never release a product that doesn't pass our own high standards. We have not succumbed to cutting corners, even if that means we pay more in the end. The overall health of our customers is very important to us. We aim to provide the highest quality supplements and are accomplishing that goal. We are very proud of this.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Having to reign ourselves in a bit on our expansion. It can be very exciting to release a ton of new products, but doing this can get a business owner into trouble. We have to be smart about the timing of releasing new products as we monitor and work to grow our current product sales.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Realize that starting a business is a lot of work, especially in the beginning, so be prepared for that, BUT it is so rewarding! Write down a plan every day of the tasks you need to get done to keep your business moving forward. Also, do a quarterly and yearly plan. Your quarterly plans will be based on your annual plan, and your daily plans will be based on your quarterly plan. This helps keep you focused and on task.
  2. Never stop learning. We have read so many business books, books about our industry, attended conferences, etc. There is so much valuable information out there on starting, running, and having a successful business and life. Never have the idea you know all about something.
  3. Survey and listen to your customers. Without customers, you won't have a business. You are not going to make changes to your business because one person said they didn't like something, but if you have many customers commenting or complaining about something, then you need to look at what they are saying and evaluate the situation to see if a change is possible and how that change will improve your business. Looking at your competitor's reviews will also give you an idea of their complaints, if any, on what customers do not like or want. By doing this, you will be starting out ahead.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Owning and running a business you are passionate about is really one of the best things you can do and is so fun. Solve a problem for your audience with your products and/or services, and you will not have any trouble getting customers.
