What's your business, and who are your customers?
We are a manufacturer of gourmet flavored sea salts. We specialize in unique flavors using only sea salt and natural ingredients. Our customers consist of home cooks, backyard grillers, chefs, and mixologists.
Tell us about yourself
HEPP'S Salt Co. was created with a vision to reinvent the way people think about salt. In 2011, based out of Venice, CA, we formed a revolutionary salt bar at local farmers markets around Los Angeles using only natural sea salts harvested directly from the source with no additives, just pure, high-quality sea salt. Our goal was to not only share this exciting discovery with people but to educate them as well on the benefits and its many uses. Our goal is to share our passion for salt with our customers and introduce unique flavors from around the world.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
We were very proud of hitting 300 national retail accounts nationwide. We are excited to have our brand be seen throughout the nation.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Being able to handle all aspects of the business. We are a husband/wife team, and we do all aspects of our company. It isn't all about just selling your product. We need to handle accounting, inventory control, permits, etc. There are so many important aspects that go with running a business that is behind the scenes that so many don't understand.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Be passionate about what you are doing! If you aren't 100% committed, don't bother.
- Know your competition and be willing to work harder.
- Stay focused.
