Time to Get Social - Heather Boone Virtual Assistant
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Heather Boone, Founder of Heather Boone Virtual Assistant, LLC., located in Philadelphia, PA, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
My business is Virtual Assistance/Social Media Manager, helping business owners enhance their online presence and help with any tasks that might get put on the back burner.
Tell us about yourself
I am a business entrepreneur with a Master's Degree, a married mother of three, with a passion to help others manage their business. My business started when I realized just how much time I was missing with my family. My intention is to help business owners improve their work-life balance.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is continuing to grow. Starting a business of your own is a big accomplishment in itself, but being able to expand month after month is the motivation for me to hit that financial freedom milestone for my family.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
The hardest thing in owning a freelancing business is waiting for deadlines. I am a type A person, but also a people pleaser. Meaning I like to tackle projects head-on as soon as possible. I have a tendency to respond to emails and texts outside of "working hours". That drive also means that clients won't be stuck in neutral waiting for my tasks. That punctuality also allows for attention to adjustments through dialogue with clients before a deadline is due.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
The first tip I'd give to someone looking to start, run and grow a business would be to stay consistent. Building a business does not happen overnight, so consistency is key. Stick with it, even when it seems tough.
A second tip I would share is to promote your business. Promote your business wherever you go.. the hair salon, the restaurant you went to for dinner, and most importantly, to your friends and family. Word of mouth might get you more referrals than you realize.
The last tip I would share with someone looking to start, run and grow a business today would be to believe in yourself. There was a reason why you decided to start your own business. When things might not be going the way you envision, remember that reason and continue pushing on!
