What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am the CEO and Founder of HearMeNow®, a coaching company that helps people gain more confidence by learning how to Sing Properly, Speak Purposefully, and Live Happily™️. When it comes down to it, if you use your voice, you are a vocalist. You may not be aware of how to best care for your voice, though. You also have had a lot of personal experiences that have affected how you speak to others and maneuver through life. Through my company, a person is able to receive a combination of vocal and life coaching that is catered to their professional goals. For example, you might be a social media content creator who needs help with your presence on camera, a teacher who finds it difficult to speak up when giving a lecture, or maybe you're an aspiring singer who wants to audition for an upcoming musical. I can help you navigate these challenges to become the confident vocalist you are longing to be.

Tell us about yourself

I have been singing as long as I've known how to speak. I worked very hard as a child and performed in different choirs, musicals, theme parks, and competitions. In high school, I was recruited to work as an assistant director for a district-wide program for elementary and junior high students. I was in this role for a few years, and my name started to be passed around as a possible voice teacher for parents to hire for private lessons. So, I started to teach young vocalists how to sing and perform. The trend didn't stop there, though. Soon after working with a few children, I started to be contacted by adults who wanted voice lessons for themselves. Once I started coaching adults who were significantly older, I realized how valuable my talents were and what I was meant to contribute to the world.

Even though I was traveling down a path that interested me during my teenage years, my life was not easy. I dealt with a lot of racial prejudices in school, and I was raised by a single mother, so my home life came with its own set of stressors. These issues took a toll on my upbringing, and the result was that I had to learn to be self-sufficient and self-motivating. I have always encouraged myself to work hard and create the life that I want to have. My goals of supporting my family, guiding my clients towards success, empowering the youth in my community, and maintaining stability in my own life keep me motivated and focused!

I also want to mention that I started my business at the beginning of 2021. My wife was a huge supporter, but other people in my life thought I was crazy to begin this entrepreneurial journey in the midst of a worldwide crisis. However, if I have learned one thing from these past few years, it's that time is something I can never get back. I am beyond happy that I bet on myself!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

The success of my clients. They are REAL people who are following the steps I provide, and they are seeing REAL positive results! It makes me feel amazing to know that I have played a part in their accomplishments.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

One of the most difficult things for me is remembering to rest. I take pride in my work and give a lot of energy to my business and my clients. I have to stay conscious that it is okay to take a break.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. It's okay to switch gears.
  2. Getting something done is better than having it be perfect.
  3. Being nervous is natural, but you are stronger than your fears, so do the thing you keep second guessing.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Starting a legitimate business is an investment of your money, time, skills, and energy... but I guarantee you, it's worth it!
