Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Ashifa Asaria, a Certified Wildfit Coach of Healthy Wild Living, located in Calgary, AB, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Health & Wellness Coaching Business. My clients are women between the ages of 40 - 65 who want to make a shift in their health by creating a more vibrant lifestyle. I help clients gain more energy, reduce their addiction to sugar, reduce medications, and release weight and inches. My coaching is facilitated in groups of 10-15 clients. Having these clients in a group setting provides so much support.

Tell us about yourself

I got into this business because of my own health journey, which started at a point in my life where I was spread thin between working full-time and being a single mom, along with everything else I was juggling at the time. I thought I was doing all the right things – keeping active, eating healthy (apparently!), and getting enough sleep, but I still felt exhausted. I was turning to sugar and coffee to get me through hectic days, leaving me with very little to give my son when he needed me most. Frankly, I was overwhelmed and knew that I had to make a change, so I could give my son the love and attention he truly deserved.

I came out of the WildFit program feeling focused, energized, and completely realigned. I lost that afternoon slump, broke my coffee and sugar addiction, and released 18lbs. My brain fog cleared, giving me the focus I needed to start achieving the goals I had been putting off. And most importantly, I gained much more energy to focus on myself and my family. What is even more amazing, I am now entering peri-menopause and have not had any symptoms.

What I love about this program is how the changes happened slowly, one week at a time, and with so much support.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment is truly seeing my clients create a whole new relationship with food. To see them reach their health goals, see their mind shift, and become more conscious of their lifestyle.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The hardest thing about being a business owner is wearing so many hats, especially in the beginning.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Just start, don't wait till you think you or your service is perfect.
  2. Seek out help sooner than later to prevent burning out. For example, hire a virtual assistant, social media manager, accountant, etc.
  3. Sometimes, you can easily get into the weeds of running your business and forget why you got into it in the first place. So when things get tough, go back to your why.
