What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am a K-12 Health and Physical Education Teacher. My current customers would be my middle school students!

Tell us about yourself

Ever since I was little, I wanted to become a teacher, but it wasn't until my senior year of high school that I switched to Physical Education and Health. I had a tragedy occur, and I turned my anger and emotions towards fitness. I decided that I could combine both of my passions (students and fitness) into a career. My students motivate me each and every day. There are some days that are really tough, but you just have to keep telling yourself that what you are doing, no matter how frustrating it may get, you are still making an impact on someone's life, and all I want to do in life is to make a difference.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment would be becoming the SHAPENJ Vice President for Health Education for the state of NJ.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

I am not a business owner, but I would say the hardest part of my career right now would be the damage the pandemic has had on schools and students.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. If you have a dream, don't give up on it.
  2. It is ok to make mistakes; that is how we grow.
  3. It is ok to ask for help from the higher-ups who can lead you down the right path.
