Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Tamar Daneshrad, Founder of Healing With Tamar, located in Los Angeles, CA, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I am a coach who helps exhausted moms, 35-50 years old, who feel stressed out, directionless, and unappreciated by their family (and which is influencing their kids' behavior too)… the secret to turning their life around, finding their calm and their direction, but also becoming a living example that can teach their family members how to change their lives – WITHOUT ever falling back again to old patterns.
Tell us about yourself
I was born in Iran and moved to Los Angeles at the age of twelve. Starting at age 5, I became extremely inquisitive and eager for knowledge regarding the mysteries of the world. I questioned things that seemed unquestionable to everyone else around me. I asked questions about God, our existence, and humanity. I asked why there was such division between people, cultures, and countries. I have deep compassion for the suffering, and ever since I can remember, I have had a desire to heal people. I formed the idea that I wanted to be a physician and became incredibly dedicated to my education. I was pre-med at UCLA when I married, and I had the realization that when we had children, I wanted to spend as much time with them as possible. My pre-med plans changed, and I decided to go to pharmacy school. However, on my first day in, I knew it was a mistake. It just felt terribly wrong, but alas, there was no going back. While in pharmacy school, as I learned about drugs and witnessed how they acted in the body and all the potential harm, I embarked on my journey into alternative healing modalities. I learned about homeopathy, naturopathy, herbs, and so on. That is about the same time that I found Kabbalah, which ultimately shaped who I am today. I received the answers to questions I longed for from my childhood. I learned about the deeper meaning of life and the human journey. Another defining moment was being introduced to BodyTalk. This healing modality allowed me to bring together all my diverse training, giving me the ability to contribute to my clients on a deeper level. Since then, I have cultivated more tools and raised my four children to adulthood. Now I enjoy working with mothers and empowering them to be their true selves.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I measure my success and accomplishment by the change I help create in my clients' lives. There is nothing more gratifying than witnessing mothers shift from feeling anxious, guilty, and living robotically to being happy, having an inner calm and purposeful direction. Even more satisfying is seeing the shift in their children.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The most challenging part of being a business owner for me is marketing and outreach.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Focus on what you would like to create.
- When doubts show up, take your focus back to what your intention is to create.
- Be flexible; maybe there is another route.
