Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Jennifer Loesch, Owner of Healing Hands Reiki, LLC., located in Morgan Hill, CA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I offer Reiki healing sessions for both people and pets. In addition to Reiki, I offer spiritual/career coaching services and angel card readings and hold monthly events such as my Women's Healing Circle, which empowers women locally to connect, share their life with others, learn natural healing methods, and meditate and receive group Reiki healing. My customers tend to be interested in exploring alternative healing modalities to help them work through stress, anxiety, grief, or any energy blockage they may be experiencing.

Tell us about yourself

I am highly motivated to help others to heal through Reiki because I am gifted in the ability to see energy blocks in their chakras as I work on each person, and the more Reiki I do, the more I'm able to give back to my clients in terms of getting to the heart of their energetic issues. I have this innate drive to help others heal.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

That's a tough one, as the business keeps evolving each year. I'm happy to have stayed in business throughout Covid. I launched Healing Hands Reiki, LLC two weeks before the Covid shutdown. I'm still standing, growing, and launching new services as I type. My biggest personal achievement was hosting my first corporate/team-building event in my office two weeks after I quit my corporate job; it really boosted my desire to be completely removed from my old work.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

I think the hardest thing in being a business owner is ensuring I carve out enough time each week to nurture my heart and soul so that I have more to give back to my clients. It's easy to get wrapped up in daily tasks, marketing, attending various fairs, sourcing/creating new products to sell, creating new classes, etc.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Make sure you know the market where you plan to open shop and know the market trends for the industry you are in so you know how to price and how long it will take to build clientele.
  2. If you plan on moving into the role nearly full-time, have a good amount of fallback money for slow months
  3. Figure out how you can distinguish yourself from your competitors.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

I'm curious about becoming a Reiki-based death doula, someone that helps the nearly deceased to cross over and be a support to the immediate family members.
