Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Hayley Denker, Founder & CEO of Hayley Denker Marketing, located in Belmont, MA, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
Not all digital marketing agencies are created equal, and at Hayley Denker Marketing, we pride ourselves on standing out from the crowd. We ignite enthusiasm by fostering our team's collective creativity over "supposed to's," playfulness over cookie cutter, and human connection over algorithms. This allows us to deliver exceptional, measurable results that create true success, not vanity metrics. We take a unique approach by immersing ourselves in each client's culture to translate their infectious energy and passions to the world and magnify all the great things they do. We are unafraid to make bold decisions so that you can see your business in HD(M). We work with service-based industries with a track record of success who are looking to expand their businesses through marketing.
Tell us about yourself
After a career in corporate marketing that left me feeling uninspired, I started consulting for small businesses in my local town. As my reputation grew and I took on more clients, I found myself missing collaborating with others on big-picture ideas and craved working on a team. I then pivoted to a marketing agency and built a small team that takes my ideas beyond what I had originally imagined! Every day I'm motivated and inspired by incredible businesses that deserve more visibility and success, which I believe we can get through our marketing support.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is growing my team. They allow us to serve more clients in new, improved, and more creative ways, and I'm so grateful for them. I'm looking forward to hiring more this year.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
One of the hardest things as a business owner is the amount of personal growth you need to do to be ready for the stress of owning your business. You have to prioritize your mental, physical and emotional health in order to get through the tough and stressful times. I've invested in business coaching and other support systems so that I can show up every day and be ready for whatever life hands me!
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Don't be afraid to invest in yourself or your business. It will ALWAYS come back to you.
- Find a community of business owners you can get coffee with or text when times are tough - people who don't own their own business just might not understand.
- Stop paying so much attention to your competition and focus on serving your audience, clients, or customers really, really well.
