What's your business, and who are your customers?

HawkGrips is the leading wellness provider that specializes in empowering clinicians to improve their patient's quality of life. It is the premier company in instrument soft tissue mobilization (IASTM) and supplies the highest quality handcrafted instrument sets, creams, emollients, and curated educational courses. You can find our products in the hands of physical therapists, chiropractors, massage therapists, professional sports trainers in the NBA, NFL, NHL, MLB, and NCAA, elite military units like the Navy SEALS and Army Delta Force, and at prestigious places like Johns Hopkins Hospital and the White House Medical Unit, among others.

Tell us about yourself

In January 1997, I was in a near-fatal ski accident that left me with dozens of broken bones, including my back and neck. I went through extensive unsuccessful rehab until I was treated with a product that changed my life– a set of IASTM tools. I reached out to the company to buy my own and was upset with the way they treated me, so I vowed to personally create the best IASTM tools on the market, which we have succeeded in doing. And that was the start of HawkGrips. Our origin story is what keeps me going every day, as well as our customers' and patients' own success stories.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Developing a product that hundreds of thousands of individuals around the world are treated with every day, changing their lives for the better. There's nothing better than someone calling me and telling me, "HawkGrips changed my life."

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

I am always thinking. Business is always on my brain, and my mind doesn't stop.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
