Your Bliss is Just a Breath Away - Have Zen - Will Travel

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Miracle Laurie May, Owner and CEO of Have Zen - Will Travel, LLC., located in Los Angeles, CA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am a mindfulness and clarity coach who has been called to bring meditation to the masses. I love helping people see that they already have everything they need within them, and things like meditation, mindfulness, and working in the Akashic Records are great tools to understand, remember and strengthen that knowing. I guide individuals and groups in meditation and mindfulness practices and specialize in coaching and speaking to executives, leaders & entrepreneurs. Especially creative people and those with prominent Capricorn placement in their birth chart!

Tell us about yourself

Well, first things first... Miracle is my real name! LOL, My parents are/were hippies, and my Dad thought he'd never have kids, so I was his "miracle baby." Then they had another girl and called her Angel. So I think growing up in a home like that, with open-minded, loving, fun, passionate, and artistic people like them - really created space in my mind and heart, so I could move thru the world with confidence, curiosity, and wonder!

Meditation has always been a fixture in my personal life, and then thru Divine Timing and Guidance, I was essentially asked to bring it to a group I was in and help people see that it wasn't a big deal. Haha! One of the reasons I expanded it into a business was because I wanted to demystify meditation for people. I want everyone to see that there is no "wrong" way to do it, that the gifts are available to anyone who even attempts to meditate, and that all of our happiness and each of our personality types of bliss are just a breath away.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

One of my goals, from the word go, was to bring meditation and mindfulness practices to corporate America. I've always had a vision of being a part of the healing that so desperately needs to happen in this country, from the inside out and the top down.

My associate and I like to say, "we're making the world a better place, one meditation at a time!" And now - this coming January, I'll be a keynote speaker in front of 150 of the top creative executives at one of the biggest production companies in Hollywood, talking about the power of mindfulness in leadership.

It's kind of amazing, and I think I'm still in shock about it! ;) After 4+ years of dreaming, this moment is finally here, and so much better than I could have imagined! And it all came to me - without any "hustling" or forcing on my part. Again, like the beginning of my career, just all organic, natural, fun, and divinely timed and guided. It's like magic!

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

For me, I still tend to compare myself to others or care what people think. I know it's silly, I know where it comes from, and it might just be one of my biggest life lessons or wounds that need healing, but I'm so much better about it than I used to be, and for that - I'm truly proud and deeply grateful!

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Give yourself immense amounts of grace and space. This is a wild ride, and it's gonna bring up all your stuff! LOL So get ready, don't forget to have fun, and pour on heaping doses of love and patience! It'll make everything a lot smoother, nicer and cleaner for yourself energetically.
  2. Seriously - have as much fun as possible, or it's not worth the effort! Being an entrepreneur is a lot of work, so it's gotta light you up and fill your soul, or don't even bother! Not that every day is full of sunshine and roses, but there's a different level of satisfaction when you're truly in flow. So don't forget to play and enjoy the process. You are going to fail, so you might as well have fun doing it!
  3. Lead with love. In everything you do, everything you say, every choice you make, every time you ask for something or offer something. Make love the litmus test in all your decision-making, and you can't go wrong. Good luck! xoxo
