What's your business, and who are your customers?
Hathaway Holistic focuses on healing skin and within. A bespoke holistic high-tech facial spa, as well as individualized integrative coaching services. I am a licensed esthetician, certified yoga instructor, and reiki master, and I completed my Integrative Health Coach certification from the NY Institute for Integrative Nutrition. As a facialist, I provide unique, high-tech, performance-driven facials.
Every facial is specifically curated for your needs at that time. I really enjoy skin tech, so every service is a mixture of many machines. No two facials are the same. You WILL leave relaxed and glowing. As a coach, I believe in the whole body and mind approach. I focus on well-being, habits, intuition, self-care routines, food choices & everyday balance. I am here to hold you accountable and to help you live a healthier life.
Tell us about yourself
I was a high fashion model in NYC for many years. Years of going 100 mph and not taking proper care of myself started to catch up with me. I started my own holistic journey and slowly changed my entire life. I was still modeling, but I began to explore different passions as I was healing myself. I first received my yoga instructor certification and, the following year, became a reiki master. Although I was passionate about these things, they were not my career path.
At one point in my modeling career, I was booking a lot of skin and beauty jobs. I
always had a million questions for the skin professionals on set and was left hungry for more. Luckily, I decided to follow my passion for skin, and I fell madly in love with it! I attended Aveda New York & Atelier Esthetique Institute of Esthetics NY. Attending both schools provided the best of both worlds. I became well-versed in Ayurveda and European esthetics.
After school, I hit the ground running! I began training and working with the best skin care professionals in the business. I love helping others to feel confident in the skin they're in by enhancing their natural beauty. I decided to further my education at IIN, as I believe in the whole body and mind approach. I got to a point where I couldn't progress any higher working for others and decided to create a brand of my own. I am so grateful every day that I chose to do so.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I'd say my biggest accomplishment is that every client truly is in alignment with myself and my brand. I feel so honored to connect with every customer that comes in. I am also so incredibly grateful that I found my path and my purpose. I honestly love what I do, and not everyone can say that about their job.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The hardest thing for me was to put myself out there. I knew no one in Miami when I moved here and then added opening a business. I have really had to network in all kinds of ways to get to know the community here. On the other hand, networking has allowed me to have support as well. Starting a business can be very lonely and isolating at times.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Do not give up. It will get hard, and you will want to give up, but keep moving forward. Remember that in the hard times, things will get better.
- Ask for help! It's ok not to know everything. Be open to learning from others who have started their own businesses. I am so grateful every time I receive advice from others. Remember, you do not have to implement the advice that's being given.
- Just start! You will learn and can make changes as you go.
