Creating, Implementing & Sustaining Marketing - HASHI
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in digital marketing but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Hassan Hashi, Director of Sales & Operations of HASHI LLC, located in Portland, OR, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
HASHI LLC is a full-service marketing agency based in Portland, OR. We assist small and medium-sized businesses with creating, implementing, and sustaining marketing and sales strategies. Our agency helps businesses develop websites that deal with the complexity of the web.
Tell us about yourself
My name is Hassan Hashi, and I've had a long career in marketing and sales, working for Fortune 500 companies like Comcast, State Farm, and Mercedes Benz. I took all the skills I learned throughout the years and founded HASHI LLC. I saw an opportunity in my community, with many small businesses struggling to adjust to the digital age. I had helped local businesses set up their websites and social media accounts, and just like that, I was getting referrals through word of mouth. That's when the idea of launching my own full-service marketing agency came to mind, and I ran with it. My motivation comes from helping and watching others succeed. When I can help small to medium-sized businesses grow their online presence and multiply their profits, that is one of the best feelings ever. The gratitude that my clients show me on a daily basis and the relationships that I have built and continue to build also motivate me each day. Every single day something new and exciting takes place, and I am glad to be along for the journey.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment would be that I self-funded my entire business without any assistance from banks, family, or friends. When Drake says, "Started from the bottom, now we're here," My business and I relate to that verse 100%.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
The hardest thing about being a business owner is that you have no days off. Unlike a regular 9–5 job where you stop all work-related activities as soon as you finish your shift or have the weekends to yourself, you don't get that luxury as a business owner. You have to be available to clients at all times and make sure you are consistently exceeding their expectations.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- The first tip I would give future entrepreneurs is to always be fearless. You can't start, run, or grow anything if you always live in fear.
- The second tip I would give is to study your clients, do your market research, and know exactly what they want so you can execute and capitalize on opportunities.
- The last tip I would give is to always have fun. When the business you are doing no longer becomes fun, it's no longer a business and becomes a job.
