Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in coaching but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Christine Hart, founder of Hart Coaching Academy, located in Calgary, AB, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Hart Coaching Academy is an online training school for aspiring Dating Coaches. It's the only one in the world that was created by a successful Dating Coach, so it's full of real-world experience, training, tools, and resources to run a successful business. We keep a boutique feel to our online school where we get to know you personally and are there for you the whole way from your first module to launching your business!

Tell us about yourself

I love my business. I started it because when I decided to transition to my own coaching business, after ten years of being a professional Dating Coach, many people said, "I want to do what you do. Can you train me to be a dating coach?". So I started building a training program based on all the things I learned over ten years and everything you would need to build a successful business. Every day I feel motivated because I get to help bring more love to the world and empower my graduates to be their own bosses - working anytime, anywhere, on their own terms. I feel like I am helping people believe in themselves as business owners and indirectly helping their clients find true love.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Hart Coaching Academy has over 80 graduates all over the world, helping singles find love. This is what I am most proud of.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

I would say it's managing your time effectively. There are so many distractions, so it's important to find ways to do focused work time.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. If it's your first time running a business, start with a low investment opportunity. Incurring high upfront costs adds unnecessary stress to being a new entrepreneur.
  2. Be all in on one business for one year, or don't bother. This doesn't mean you can't operate it as a side hustle but don't start a bunch of things and then grow some of them a little bit. Try one business for a year.
  3. Go into business because you are inspired by the industry or the way it helps people. It needs to be true to you and highlight your natural talents.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Hart Coaching Academy is my 3rd business (I built and sold the first two), and I've learned so much over the years. I love being an entrepreneur, and what I am continuing to love just as much is helping other entrepreneurs realize their dreams.
