What's your business, and who are your customers?
Harmony Baking Flours provides flour blends that are gluten, dairy, soy, rice, nut, and sugar-free. Many baked items can be made with the variety of blends offered. Custom blends are also an option. Easy to make and delicious to eat means no one is left without their daily staple or special treat.
Tell us about yourself
For my entire career in food, my motivation has been to help people with dietary restrictions feel they are not sacrificing taste by having to follow a restricted diet. I believe the quality of the ingredients is as important as the pleasure and satisfaction that comes from eating something delicious.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I feel my greatest accomplishment is that I can help people. I also enjoy the challenge of continuing to adapt my products to the changing needs people have.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Being responsible for everything can be difficult especially when I know there are some things I am not the best at, or do not like to do. It is great when I find like-minded people who can bring their own unique set of skills to help advance my goals. My website designer and accountant are good examples.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Get feedback from people you trust. You do not want to pour money and time into an idea or product that will not have an audience/customers.
- Do your research and trust your gut.
- Don't quit a job (if possible) until you know you can make a living following your passion.
