What's your business, and who are your customers?
I help women in their 40s-60s who feel stuck. The most common areas I see women feeling this way are feeling unfulfilled at work, unappreciated in their marriages, lonely, or unsatisfied with their bodies. As women, we spend so many years focused outside ourselves...taking care of the family, making our way in a career, or raising kids. We focus so much energy outside ourselves that we forget who we are at our essence. We don't know what lights us up anymore. We feel unmotivated, stressed, and unfulfilled. Many of us feel we SHOULD be grateful for all we have, but there's that part of us saying, "isn't there more for me?" The answer is YES. I teach women how to overcome the blocks that are keeping them stuck so they can find purpose, passion, and JOY in their lives again.
Tell us about yourself
For about 20 years, I worked in various positions within the health and fitness area. Most recently, I was a personal trainer for women. What I noticed was that no matter what I advised my clients to eat or how I advised them to move, they ended up self-sabotaging. I was working with intelligent, successful women. They didn't have an information problem. They had an emotional one. I went in search of the missing piece, took a life coaching certification course, and never looked back. Now I help women find their missing pieces. What's holding you back? What are the stories you're telling yourself that aren't true? Who could you be if the story was different?
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is changing lives. Seeing my clients leave bad relationships, improve their relationships with themselves, see themselves in a different light, and rediscover that spark that makes them uniquely who they are lights me up! I love getting messages from my clients saying they are actually happy now. It's so heart-warming.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The hardest thing for me is talking about myself and marketing. This is an area that has been the biggest learning curve for me. Learning the technology, language, and techniques to "put out the word" about my business has been challenging, and I am learning so much!
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- If you are just starting out, just take messy action! Get started! If you wait till you get all your ducks in a row, it'll never happen. Take on a client. Get some practice and make some money so you can evolve as your business does.
- Ask for help. You're not supposed to know everything about something you've never done! Ask someone who knows. You never know what kind of relationship you may build that will be mutually beneficial.
- Don't give up. It's a process. Sure, there are those unicorns out there who make a million dollars in 3 days or whatever, but that's not the norm. Stand your ground. Keep failing forward. And allow the mistakes to teach you how to do better!
