What's your business, and who are your customers?
Hangar 18 is a graphic design, branding, and communications company. Our customers range from government, municipalities, corporate, retail, real estate development, and industrial sectors.
Tell us about yourself
Hangar 18 was formed in 1996 by myself and two partners so that we could create branding and communications while working closely and collaboratively with our clients. People hire people, and working with good people motivates me to do my best work possible.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is to make people happy.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
The hardest thing to do as a business owner is to let people go. Sometimes it's purely based on the economic climate, and it's purely a question of survival for the business. As an owner, you often need to make difficult decisions.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Don't grow too fast. Be mindful and make sure you hire a good bookkeeper who cares about your business.
- Use contractors where possible.
- Make sure you have balance in your life: stay healthy and vital in both body and mind.
