Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in videography but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Austin Gremillion, Founder of Gremillion Films, located in Baton Rouge, LA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I own Gremillion Films, which is a freelance production company that specializes in video. We produce high-quality video assets for organizations, brands, and individuals looking to increase engagement on their social media. We have a wide range of clients, from corporate organizations to athletes and event organizers. Gremillion Films also provides photo coverage and produce professional-level photo galleries.

Tell us about yourself

I began my journey videoing personal hunts for myself and my friends. I then transitioned to shooting sports at LSU. This provided me with an extensive amount of experience in the field and allowed me to take the leap to open my own business.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

To date, my two biggest accomplishments as a business owner were (1) getting a contract to help cover the Final Four for the March Madness Social Team and (2) working with the owner of Todd Graves on a recap of a concert weekend at the Cane's River Center, which I will be doing again in the near future.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

The obvious answer to this question is producing enough revenue to be able to purchase the necessary gear. At the beginning of my journey, this was a huge hurdle, but since the increase in projects and clients, it has been possible to continue to grow the inventory of gear.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  • The first tip I would give is to say yes to any and every opportunity you can, and this will allow you to gain experience, funds, and clientele.
  • The second tip would be to prioritize the next step in your business journey.
  • And not focusing on the next 10. This will keep you taking steps in the right direction.
