What's your business, and who are your customers?

I train, consult, and coach on the topics of negotiation and reading body language. I have a global clientele that consists of people in the C-Suite of major corporations, high-net-worth individuals, and governments, and I've also negotiated on behalf of Hollywood film creators.

Tell us about yourself

I've been in business for 30 years, a TV news contributor, and a politician. I get up in the morning with the purpose and intent of helping others improve their life by being able to negotiate better while enhancing their ability to read body language to improve their plight.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner has been my ability to help other business owners and being recognized for my efforts by the Small Business Administration, along with achieving a financial status that allows me not to worry about money.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

For me, it's trust. I had a business partner steal a quarter of a million dollars from the business. That occurred many years ago, but I still bear the burden of his actions.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. When starting a business, plan your exit strategy - that will give insight into how one runs their business.
  2. Surround yourself with a team of good advisers from multiple industries, the one you're in and those on the fringe. To be successful in business, savvy business owners keep their heads on a swivel.
