What's your business, and who are your customers?
My business is called Graphic Design Halifax, and we help local businesses to reach their target audience and modernize their digital identity through branding, web design, social media management, and video production.
Tell us about yourself
I've been a graphic designer for over 10 years now. I got my start like many others, graduating from Art School and slowly growing a client base, and learning new skills over the years.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment as a business owner to date has been working with some of the largest and most impactful businesses in Halifax and around Nova Scotia. Being a part of their operations and essentially seamlessly integrating with their team makes what we do feel unique. We know that our clients are much better off after having worked with us.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
One of the hardest things that come with being a business owner is definitely balancing the schedules, and needs of our team members, with the requirements of our clients. The age-old tale of owning a business, same as any other. Luckily, I've got the greatest team.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Don't skip any steps. Start from day one, and don't rush things because it will bite you before long.
- Savour the journey. There will always be a "next level," no matter what stage of the game or your life you're at. If you're not enjoying the journey, the trivial, the day-to-day, that may be a sign that the direction is not good for you anyway.
