Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in clothing but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Abby Studdert, Co-Owner of Graham Swim, located in Orem, UT, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
We are a mother/daughter duo designing our own swimming suit designs. We want to empower women of all shapes and sizes to feel confident and comfortable in our swimming suits.
Tell us about yourself
We launched our swimming suit brand in 2020. We wanted to design suits that everybody could wear. We have high-quality suits that are affordable. Our motto at Graham Swim is to be kind to yourself and wear the dang suit now. Don’t miss out on those moments with your kids, family, and friends because you are worried about what you look like in your swimming suit. We are our worst critics, so we are trying to change the narrative to love our bodies and be comfortable in our own skin. We use real women with real bodies in our photography. We love when we get messages from women who thank us for showing our imperfections. It’s relatable and real! That’s what keeps us going and what we love most about our business.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
We have built a community of women who support each other and build each other up. They encourage body positivity and kindness to themselves. We love our Graham fam and always encourage body positivity!
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
A challenge we face as business owners is learning how to be seen on social media platforms. Growing our business through those platforms and learning the best way to market our brand!
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Find your brand and stay in that lane!
- Don’t be afraid to take risks! Running your own business is hard work and can be discouraging at times. Stick with it, take risks, and push through the hard moments.
- Be grateful. Without gratitude it’s hard to stay positive through the difficulties that come with running your own business. But gratitude keeps the right perspective and helps you to make the best decisions for your business.
