What's your business, and who are your customers?
Grace Pilates+Yoga is a Pilates and yoga studio with a focus on teaching our clients how to pay attention to their body through Pilates, yoga, and mindfulness practices. We focus on private instruction to have a deeper understanding of your body. Our customers range in all ages and shapes we can help anyone get healthier.
Tell us about yourself
I began my journey with Pilates shortly after my late husband was diagnosed with cancer. It struck me that we were not paying attention to our bodies and lives. Simultaneously I fell in love with teaching Pilates. This was my very first mindfulness practice. I am motivated daily by my students, both instructors and clients. I love watching them practice mindfulness, learn to understand their bodies, and love teaching teachers to build a mindful career to help make our community healthy.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I am becoming a lead trainer for Alycea Ungaro, a second-generation Joseph Pilates-trained teacher of teachers. I have been a host for her training program, and after nearly ten years, I will be creating teachers on a global scale. I will be honored to teach and pass the classical Pilates method to my students.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
The hardest thing about owning a business is that there are no off days.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Always pay yourself first.
- Set healthy boundaries and allow your staff to do the same to create a healthy work culture.
- Keep educating— remain centered on your passion surrounding your craft.
