Have a Stress-free Course Launch - Grace Fortune
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Grace Fortune, a launch strategist and copywriter based in St. Catharines, ON, Canada.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I help creative business owners (like copywriters, coaches, web designers, and brand strategists) break the cycle of working 1:1 with clients, destroy their old revenue ceiling, and increase their impact + authority. I offer strategy (launch auditing, road mapping), copywriting, and implementation services using the COURSE framework I've developed.
Tell us about yourself
My company is yet another pandemic baby. I crashed and burned super hard working for someone else, so I started my own business as a virtual assistant with a single client bringing in just $900/month. I've since grown it exponentially as I've transitioned into the copywriting and launch space. The reason I'm so passionate about what I do and why I want to help copywriters launch their own products is that I have seen so many of us (myself included) feel like little more than a content-creation machine, and feel that financial squeeze when they don't have a full pipeline. I've seen copywriters' income potential get capped because they only have so much freaking time in a day to work with clients. I've seen the impact of creating a product that just keeps selling, and I know it can break revenue ceilings, create more freedom, and make raving fans out of buyers. I want everyone to have that.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I think getting to where I am now in my business has been my biggest accomplishment - and learning that I'm actually pretty good at running it. I came from a humble background and had no examples or formal business training until I was in my mid-30s.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
One of the trickiest parts of owning a business is balancing giving 100% to my clients and making time to do business-development things!
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Figure out your niche and offerings first - and make who you want to serve the North Star for creating them.
- Create easily replicable processes so you can ditch the overwhelm of worrying about the next step.
- Running a business can be lonely. Join and stay connected to a network of people who do what you do.
