Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in marketing but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Jen Panattoni, CEO and Founder of Good Stuff Marketing Co., located in Park Ridge, IL, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
Good Stuff Marketing Co. is a boutique marketing agency that looks to partner with organizations that put people and the planet first. We also have the goal to help small businesses everywhere, to consider environmental impact and to include sustainability as a part of their marketing messaging.
Tell us about yourself
I'm motivated by the partnerships and organizations that I work with. They are the real change makers; I just help tell their stories. The pandemic was a driving force in determining my path. I wanted to do meaningful work that aligns with my values and have control over the people I partner with. I also want to build community and connect with other women in marketing that have taken time off to raise families and are now getting back into paid work.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Realizing my worth and saying yes to myself.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Marketing your own marketing agency. It's hard to take time away from income-generating work to build your own business. I ask myself, what "micro-move" can I make today? Anything to keep this train moving forward.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Form genuine human connections with people around you.
- Be consistent. Make those micro moves.
- Do things scared and stay curious.
