#GoSoloStories: Aquarian Yogi
Hey, I'm Sat Avtar and I run Aquarian Yogi.
Tell us all about your business...
We are an online meditative school for heart entered excellence. We support spiritual growth through yoga and meditation, and provide classes for those with chronic illness and trauma sensitivity.
What's your background and motivation to get into the solopreneur life?
I started practicing Kundalini Yoga and Meditation in college when I had Fibromyalgia. I was dealing with too much stress.
I've kept up with it because it has been the one thing that has given me lasting change and and empowerment in all aspects of life. My mind, my body and my emotions. It helped me regain my health and happiness.
As a solopreneur, what does success ultimately mean to you?
When I hear from students how they feel uplifted and supported. When I change someones life for the better my life is changed.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Feeling like you have to do it all right now or something will fall apart.
What are the top 3 tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run or grow a business today?
Break down the process into small steps. Create habits that help you reach your goals. Take a lot of breaks.
If there was one thing you could do repeatedly to help grow your business, what would it be?
Just getting people to try meditation for the first time. It can be hard to get people to understand meditation isn't about clearing the mind. People are so resistant and self conscious. But it's a nurturing self accepting space.
What are some of the things you put in place to maintain a healthy work/life balance and to keep it all together?
Lots of time for nature and rest, friends and me time.
Who are some of your favorite entrepreneurs and best business resources/books?
JP Sears. I love how he mixes humour with his platform. As far as emotional and mental transformation, and looking at the psychology of empowerment he is on top. And it is always full of laughs. I also have loved Marie Forleo's Copy Cure.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
When you feel fear about doing something, it means you should do it. There is power there just waiting for you to grab it.
